Order Your Testing

Ordering with tSTD is a very precise way to specify your testing that includes: identity options, test panel selections, PSC location and time, payment options, SMS/email notification, and any special circumstances you may have.

Visit the PSC

Your PSC visit starts with a five minute phone call about an hour before your visit. Confirm your information, your tests, PSC protocols, the "hotline" number, directions, and results timing and notification. You head to the PSC knowing we've made sure they are ready for you.

Updating Results Status

Within 4 hours of your visit, we verify that your specimens were handled correctly and your results are in process. If there is a delay, or a mistake was made in the transportation / processing of your order, we get it fixed quickly. We take nothing for granted.

Why call tSTD? Well, first of all, we're pretty good at answering the phone.

From 8am to 6pm CST. And on Saturday from 8am to 1pm. With no silly phone menus or operators.
Second, you'll be talking to a tSTD counselor almost immediately.

If you already know what you want to get tested for, and you've ordered on-line, they will confirm your PSC visit within a couple minutes and send you on your way. No paperwork for you to take, clear communication with the PSC, and hotline support for any issues.

If you want to ask questions about an exposure you had or about a potential symptom, they will patiently listen to you and help you find the most accurate answer. They help you evaluate your options. Do you need to go see a doctor? Can Planned Parenthood help you? Should you get a second opinion? Do you need the HIV by PCR test?

The counselor you are speaking with helps hundreds of people each month to get tested, get their results, and get on with their lives. And, they have been doing this for a minimum of two years. They spend all day helping people answer questions, get their testing or visit set up, and making sure their results are delivered on time without the possibility of error. They are experts at working with PSCs, making sure results are on schedule, and fixing problems when they arise. Quickly.

They have sophisticated tools for managing laboratory ordering and results, but often the most important tool is a phone call. Did you know that a single order for testing can require processing at four different laboratory locations?

We believe that a "Counselor" should be an expert in helping you. Start to Finish. Not in some theoretical way, but in determining what to do and in making your testing a successful experience.

Year 7 and counting.

In the summer of 2003, two experienced consultants (with backgrounds in IT, process engineering, and medical systems) who had worked together for six years, decided to try and make STD testing more available, reliable, and affordable.

By January 2004, tstd.org was launched with four employees, one lab, one state (IL), and one panel of tests for seven STDs. Running, improving, and growing tSTD is still our passion. Our people, processes, and technology have constantly been improved so that our service works as well as possible.
